MASTRA GOLD MINE

General
Mastra Gold Mine is situated at 22km of northwest of Gumushane and northeast of Mastra (Demirkaynak) village. Road to Mastra Gold Mine from Gumushane is 17km of asphalt and 5 km of stabilized. Pontyd band is metallogenic zone well known with it’s completely spread massive sulphite deposits

Operations
Mine’s ore production is carried out in two methods being open pit and underground mining. Production at Open pit commenced in May 2007 and underground operations in 2008. First gold was poured in March 2009.

Geology
Mastra Gold Mine situated at south section of East Pontyd Technotic band mineralization is vein type and low sulphite epithermal type deposits.

Production
Open Pit
Open pit production was completed in 2013.

Underground
Production from underground is carried out separately at East Pit and West Pit. Cut-fill method is used to produce annual average of 350 thousand tonnes of ore from underground.

Plant
Ore is processed at Mastra plant with tank leach method to produce gold. Ore is grinded in ball and rod mills and fed into leach tanks.  The copper contained in the ore is recovered by SART system and fed into the plant.  Gold is poured once a week at the plant, which has a feeding capacity of 90 tonnes /h.
